YOUR GUIDE TO BUYING HUNTER BOOTS

When it comes to boots designed to last for decades, there is only one brand that dominates. That brand is Hunter

If you're looking for practicality, classic design and impeccable quality, it’s hard to go wrong with a pair of Hunter Boots. While it is true that you may pay more than you would for other brands, they’re designed to be durable which means you get more bang for your buck.

Hunter also specialises in boots for wide calves or larger calves and has a range of wide leg and adjustable wellington boots.

PLUS, if fashion-forward footwear and living an eco-friendly lifestyle are important to you, then you’ll be happy to know that Hunter Boots are made using natural rubber and are certified vegan!

So now that you're sold on the boots, your only question should be: “What style should I buy?” and “Should I choose Gloss or Matte?”

GLOSS OR MATTE

Whether you choose glossy or matte, both are equally attractive. Gloss seems to be more popular among fashionistas, but the matte style also looks great.  Here are a few key things to keep in mind when deciding which to go for.

Matte

  • Matte colours are more muted compared to glossy.
  • Matte can be a more practical choice especially if you think you’ll get them scratched and scuffed often.
  • The matt wellies are more prone to ‘bloom’; this is a natural occurrence where a white powdery substance appears on the surface of your boot.
  • They look a bit more like leather and seem to be popular with people who wear the shoes more outdoors where they’ll get dirty.
  • Matte shoes hide the dirt and scuff marks better.

Gloss

  • The gloss effect really makes the colour pop and seem more vibrant and shiny, which is particularly attractive if you opt for bright colours
  • That beautiful glossy finish may deteriorate fairly quickly, but Hunter does sell a buffer spray that will help.
  • Glossy shoes are easier to clean
  • The glossy version looks more rubbery or like plastic.

WHICH STYLE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Hunter Original Tall

This version will generally work for most people, however, females with larger calves may need to look at the versions with a wider opening.

Hunter Original Short

This is a great version for a traditional rain boot, they are easy to slip on and off.

Hunter Original Play

The Original Play Boot is a  fresh design taking on the iconic features of the Original Tall with a simplified statement shape. The colourful range is 100% waterproof, lightweight and comfortable.

Hunter Chelsea Rainboots

A newer take on the classic Hunter boot is the Chelsea Rainboot.  It’s a shorter more stylish version of the classic boot.  These are ideal to wear on warmer days and when you want a more shoe-like feel.
